The prostate gland is a chestnut-shaped organ located directly behind the male bladder and in front of the rectum.

In an adult it weighs about 20 grams. From birth until puberty, it experiences very little growth and remains constant in the following years.

Its main function is the transport of semen and sperm during ejaculation, for which it secretes a milky-looking fluid that gives semen its characteristic smell, and also its peculiar bacteria, which prevent the proliferation of more dangerous ones.

Among the most frequent processes that can alter the proper functioning of the prostate are infections (prostatitis). Let’s see below what it is and how it can be addressed.

PROTATITIS: SYMPTOMS AND DIAGNOSIS

  • Symptoms are stinging and difficulty urinating and sometimes high fever.
  • The diagnosis is completed with a culture and antibiogram or aromatograms of urine.

PROSTATITIS: NATURAL TREATMENT

The naturist treatment is performed with antiseptic plants, such as bearberry and heather (in cooking) or thyme (in infusion or in essence).

The application of heat and especially the abundant intake of liquid, water or juices, especially blueberries, has proven its effectiveness.

WARM SITZ BATH FOR PROSTATITIS

This bath is effective in case of chronic prostatitis, prostate dilation or inflammation of the bladder.

It can be done in a large basin or a bathtub in which a stool will be placed so that the legs are a little higher than the pelvic area. In a small basin they remain outside it.

An infusion of horsetail can be added to the water.

The water reaches the navel and the root of the thigh. Arms and hands should not touch the water and calves and arms remain warm.

The temperature must range between 36-38 ºC.

The bath lasts about 20 minutes and concludes with a cooling of the genital part either by cold washing or a cold lower stream, followed by bed rest.
